The video demonstrates my scrypt mining rig. I have mined litecoin and dogecoin with it. It has 3 Powercolor 7850 2GB cards that mine about 306 KH/s per card without being overclocked and using 420 watts of power. Completely overclocked this rig will achieve 1200 KH/s and uses about 500 watts of power. Please like, comment and subscribe. Below is a list of equipment used in this rig, as well as amazon links. Thanks
PowerColor Radeon 7850 GPU’s x 3
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ Motherboard
AMD FX-6300 Vishera 3.5GHz AM3+ Six-Core CPU
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3
P3 Kill A Watt Electricty Load Meter and Monitor
Corsair HX 750W Modular Gold PSU
PNY Attache III 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash
Alfa AWUS036NH USB WiFi Network Adapter
Sterilite Plastic Storage Crate
8″ Plastic Cable Zip Ties
1/2 Watt 68 ohm Resistor
PCI-E 16X Riser Flexible Extension Cable
Plastic stand offs
Power switch and LED (Optional)
If you would like to save a little money you can go cheaper on the processor and RAM. Below are some alternatives. I spent a little more on the CPU and RAM above so I can use those parts in a gaming machine once this rig becomes obsolete for mining or for when I upgrade to scrypt ASIC miners.
AMD Sempron 145 Processor
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB)
Also if you want to spend more money on the rig but get much more hashing power you can go with better GPU’s that have a hash rate at about twice as much as the 7850’s. I’m talking about the 7950’s and they are listed below. If you go with this option, you will need a slightly bigger power supply which I also listed below. The below combination can also be used with the cheaper CPU and RAM.
MSI Radeon HD 7950 3GB TWIN FROZR GPU
Seasonic 860w Platinum PSU

Hey there,
I just checked your blog and still no content yet. I was wondering if you could post a little more info on the spes. I just ordererd the same card(I think) what motherboard, cpu and memory are you using? what numbers are you hitting? thx a bunch.
Nice rig you have there. But i dont know why you bought such a big processor to your rig? could you tell me why.
Why are you using the 68 ohm resistors to trick your video cards into thinking there is a monitor? I thought you didnt have to do that with Xubuntu
Just a little tip: cut end of those zip ties. It looks better without something 'coming out'
Just so everyone knows, I ordered 2 more cards and a more powerful power supply. By the end of this week I should have another demo video up so everyone can check it out. Don't forget to like and subscribe!
why do you use ohm resistance at the DVI to D-SUB adaptors????
This is how you fit these cards in a case……I've been trying to figure out for 2 days how I can get these cards in something that won't over heat……
Seriously 500 watt and 1200 kh/s? Thats 2.4 kh/s pr. watt.
Now look at my random laptop, i dont know precisely what it is using, but the GPU is up to 45 watt so lats say.. 60 watt for the machine running and mining. I hit 260 kh/s. That is 4.3 kh/s pr watt. You must have a sick electricity bills. I don't think that it earn itself in? 🙂
Im mining at 0.0011 mhs 🙁
I've been seeing some videos with ASIC scrypt miners.
